Every summer, 150 of most outstanding professionals in golf compete for the Rodman Wanamaker Trophy in the PGA Championship. This competition has been hosted by a different golf facility each year since its inception in 1916. It currently follows a stroke play format, with four rounds of 18 holes of golf. After the first 36 holes, the field of players is reduced to the 70 or so players with the lowest scores and/or those players tied for 70th place. In the event of a tie for first place at the end of the final two rounds of golf, there is a three-hole playoff.
