A Guide to Search Results for "Irish Travellers"

The "Irish Travellers" (ocassionally misspelled as "Irish Travelers") are an indigenous ethnic group which form a minority of less than 1% in Ireland. They have their own language and culture, and seldom intermarry with other groups, but significant groups of Irish Travellers have emigrated to other countries, and are found throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. As their name implies, most Irish Travellers are nomadic, and they have traditionally followed occupations that are harmonious with a transient lifestyle. Politically powerless, they are often the victims of discrimination and frequently stand accused of both dishonest business practices and criminal acts.
